Why Olefin

Polypropylene, also known as Olefin in the markets for many years, is a synthetic resin built up by the polymerization of propylene. Often polypropylene is molded or extruded into many plastic products in which toughness, flexibility, lightweight, and heat resistance are required. It can be spun into fibres for employment in industrial and household textiles.

The polymer shares some of the polyethylene properties, but it is stronger, stiffer, and harder, and it softens at higher temperatures. A large proportion of polypropylene production is melt-spun into fibres. Polypropylene fibres can be found in home furnishings such as upholstery and indoor-outdoor carpets. Numerous industrial end uses, including fishing gears, rope and cordage, disposable nonwoven fabrics for diapers and medical applications, and nonwoven fabrics for ground stabilization and reinforcement in construction and road paving, are around our daily life.

These applications take advantage of the toughness, resilience, water resistance, and chemical inertness of the polymer.

Mackintosh®  Technology

Mackintosh® Technology infuses the most advanced PFC/PFAS free DWR polymer melting addictive into the blending process with polypropylene chips and high UV elemental pigments prior to yarn manufacturing. All materials are extruded, continuously extended, separately texturized, and spun by air friction or draw stretching to be unique Mackintosh® Olefin yarns that imbed superb repellency to all kinds of moisture and retain their performance after many rain showers and washing cycles.

The Mackintosh® Olefin yarns are woven in various weaves for distinctive features and are simply finished by thorough scouring and cleaning which gives them long-lasting repellency and other functional advantages. Additional finishing chemicals are not required, meaning that the use of environmentally harmful substances such as perfluorocarbon, perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances is completely avoided.
